The Nautilus Maldives

An ultra-private 26-house island in Baa Atoll's UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, opened in 2019. No fixed schedule, no enforced check-in time, and the whole island can be bought out as a single buyout.

The MT Verdict

Bohemian-luxe done with restraint. A 26-house footprint, an unusually flexible service ethos, and one of the cleaner boutique products in the Maldives' top tier.

The Houses

The Nautilus runs 26 "Houses" — 14 over-water and 12 on the beach, each with a private pool, dedicated thakuru (butler), and the resort's signature thatched roof. Two- and three-bedroom Residences are available for groups, and the entire island can be reserved as a single buyout.

Dining

Three restaurants on a tiny footprint: Zeytoun (Mediterranean and Arabic), Naiboli (overwater bar) and Thyme (private dining and theme nights). Menus are à la carte and read more residential than corporate.

The "Unwritten Nights" Ethos

The Nautilus markets itself on flexibility — no fixed mealtimes, no schedule for activities, and breakfast on demand. The model leans on a high staff-to-guest ratio rather than a long facilities list.

Logistics

Transfer is a 30-minute seaplane from Velana International Airport. The resort sits on Thiladhoo island in the UNESCO Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve.
