Amilla Maldives

A 67-villa-and-residence resort on a forested island in Baa Atoll, originally opened as Amilla Fushi in 2014 and rebranded simply Amilla in 2020. Villas, multi-bedroom Houses on the beach, and a strong family programme.

The MT Verdict

A villa-led resort that quietly modernised — the multi-bedroom Beach Houses are some of the strongest family inventory in the Maldives, and the design under PEMA Architects has aged well.

The Villas

Amilla runs 59 over-water and beach villas, plus eight Beach Houses ranging from four to eight bedrooms — the latter are effectively standalone holiday homes with private pools, kitchens, and butler service, popular with multi-generational groups and full buyouts.

Dining

The line-up runs eight venues, including the over-water Lonu (Asian and Maldivian), Wokeria (open-fire), Feeling Koi (Japanese), 1947 (Indian) and Fresh in the Garden (organic farm-to-table on the kitchen-garden side of the island).

Programme

The resort emphasises sustainability — the Javvu Spa runs an in-house wellness programme, and the resort's organic gardens supply the kitchens. The Kids Club is structured by age band.

Logistics

Transfer is a 35-minute seaplane from Velana International Airport, or a domestic flight to Dharavandhoo plus 10-minute speedboat. The resort is owned by the Small Maldives Island Co. and sits inside the UNESCO Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve.
