Conrad Maldives Rangali Island

Hilton's flagship Maldives Conrad — a 151-villa twin-island resort in South Ari Atoll, home to Ithaa, the world's first underwater restaurant, and the Muraka underwater residence.

The MT Verdict

The pioneer twin-island resort. Sprawling by design, with a still-startling underwater restaurant and a partly-submerged residence that's effectively its own listed attraction.

The Villas

Conrad Rangali runs 151 villas across two islands — Rangali on the spa side and Rangalifinolhu on the family side — connected by a long jetty bridge. Categories range from Beach Villas to over-water Sunset Water Villas and the standalone two-storey, three-bedroom Muraka, with a master bedroom that sits five metres below sea level.

Dining

The headline venue is Ithaa Undersea Restaurant — opened 2005, one of the first underwater dining rooms in the world. The wider line-up runs to 12 restaurants and bars, including Ufaa by Jereme Leung (Chinese) and Mandhoo Spa Restaurant (over-water health menu).

Spa & Underwater

The Spa Retreat sits on a small private islet accessible by walking bridge. Beyond Ithaa, the resort markets the Muraka residence as the Maldives' marquee underwater suite — booked years ahead.

Logistics

Transfer is a 30-minute seaplane from Velana International Airport. The resort opened in 1997 as Hilton Maldives, rebranded to Conrad in the early 2000s, and remains the brand's flagship Maldives property.
