Eid Al-Adha 2026 falls on Wednesday 27 May and runs through Saturday 30 May. The holiday is one of the country’s two major public holidays. Resorts operate normally and most have published special programming for the week, drawing on traditional Maldivian celebrations: the Bodu Mas parade (a procession behind a wooden fish frame draped in palm leaves), Boduberu drumming, communal feasts, henna artistry, and island visits.

Four resort groups have publicly announced programmes for this Eid. Here is what each is running, where, and on which dates.

Bodu Mas parades, Boduberu drumming, henna artistry, sound healing, and Maldivian Nights at the beach. Eid in the Maldives leans into culture and the lagoon in equal measure.

Amilla Maldives, Baa Atoll

Dates: 27 to 30 May 2026.

IM Maldives — You & Me by Cocoon

Amilla’s programme opens with the Bodu Mas Parade, followed by sunset cocktails by the shore and an Eid dinner under the stars. Across the four days, guests can sit in on island crafts and henna artistry, beach games and sandcastle building, tie-dye, sushi-making, and bracelet workshops. Family movie nights are scheduled throughout.

Culinary moments include a Maldivian High Tea, a local island visit, a Maldivian Night at the Emperor Beach Club with traditional cuisine and live music, and wine tasting at The Cellar Door. Baa Bar runs shisha and soft live music in the evenings.

Wellness sits at the centre of Amilla’s offering: sound healing, restorative yoga, personalised spa treatments at Javvu Spa, and integrative therapy sessions with Dr Shagnika Pradhan.

The Standard, Maldives, Raa Atoll

Dates: 27 to 28 May 2026 (spa treatments through 31 May).

The Standard’s programme is concentrated across two days. May 27 opens with an Eid Welcome Lunch at Kula (fresh seafood, coconut-infused dishes, island spices), a Sip & Splash Pool Party with Bodumas rhythms and Maali dance performances, a Surf & Turf Dinner at Kula, a Boduberu performance at Todis Bar, and a shisha lounge on the beach (USD 65 per person).

May 28 features Fisherman’s Catch dining at Kula, an Arabic-Style Seafood Dinner on Kula Beach with mezze (USD 95 per person, 6:30 to 9:30 pm), and Cinema Under the Stars.

Wellness offerings run 24 to 31 May: 120-minute spa treatments with hammam rituals and frankincense massage, healthy drink classes at the overwater Tonic Bar, and traditional yoga.

Sun Siyam Resorts, five properties

Dates: Bookable now through 31 August 2026 for stays through 31 October 2027.

Sun Siyam’s Eid programme runs across all five of its Maldives properties: Sun Siyam Iru Veli and Sun Siyam Vilu Reef in Dhaalu Atoll, Sun Siyam Iru Fushi and Siyam World in Noonu Atoll, and Sun Siyam Olhuveli in South Malé Atoll.

Cultural moments include a traditional evening tea at Magoodhoo Beach with "Bodu Mas" folklore storytelling, an Eid Farivalhu communal feast served on traditional platters, and a Maldivian Roots cultural show featuring Boduberu drumming. Dining runs across Sun Siyam’s Premium All-Inclusive Dine Around (15 restaurants across the group).

On the water and around the islands: floating breakfasts, dolphin cruises, Jet Car adventures with drone videography, Cinema by Moonlight, and live performances from belly dancer Marianna and DJ Abo at Olhuveli. Wellness sits at The Spa by Thalgo.

Family note: complimentary stays and dining for up to two children with paying adults. The package can include complimentary seaplane transfers, spa credits, and Water Villas with butler service.

Coco Collection, Bodu Hithi and Palm Dhuni Kolhu

Dates: 21 to 31 May 2026 (Coco Eid Escape window).

Coco’s Eid Escape runs at Coco Bodu Hithi (North Malé Atoll) and Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu (Baa Atoll) across an eleven-day window that brackets the holiday. Programming centres on a Bodumas show (the palm-leaf and dancers performance), a Boduberu set, traditional games and a colour party, and an Eid Sai Fodhu (the Maldivian high tea unique to the holiday).

Food spans international and local cuisines with traditional Maldivian delicacies showcased at Cowrie restaurant. Complimentary meal-plan upgrades apply, plus 20 per cent off food and beverages.

Activities include Liyela Jehun (traditional Maldivian fabric craft) and henna art, complimentary sunset yoga, visits to the Marine Turtle Rescue Centre, sea turtle release moments, marine educational talks, and spa treatments (20 per cent discount).

Offers stack: up to 50 per cent off villas, complimentary speedboat transfers, all-inclusive upgrade at Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu, and children under 12 stay complimentary with parents.

Quick reference

- Holiday dates: 27 to 30 May 2026 (Wednesday to Saturday).

- Public-holiday status: Eid Al-Adha is a public holiday in the Maldives. Government offices and most Malé businesses close. Resorts operate normally.

- Best for cultural depth: Amilla (Baa) and Sun Siyam (multi-island).

- Best for shorter stays around Eid itself: The Standard’s two-day programme.

- Best for families with young children: Coco Collection (under-12s complimentary) and Sun Siyam (two children complimentary).

For guests staying at local-island guesthouses rather than resorts, the cultural calendar is even broader. Most islands run their own Bodu Mas parades, communal feasts (Farivalhu) and Boduberu sessions in the afternoons and evenings, free for anyone to watch.
