Soneva Jani

Soneva's overwater showpiece in the 5.6km Medhufaru lagoon. Cone-roofed Water Reserves with retractable bedroom roofs and slides into the lagoon, plus the Soneva Soul observatory and treetop spa.

The MT Verdict

The overwater answer to Fushi. Slides into the lagoon, retractable roofs over the bedroom, a five-island private lagoon that feels staged for a magazine shoot — because most months it is.

The Villas

Soneva Jani's signature unit is the Water Reserve — a cone-roofed thatched villa that sits on stilts over the lagoon, with a retractable bedroom roof for stargazing and, in many categories, a slide that drops straight from the upper deck into the water. The original Chapter One villas were joined in 2021 by Chapter Two, a second cluster of Water Reserves further along the boardwalk. There are also a handful of Island Reserves on the resort's main island for guests who prefer dry land.

Dining

The line-up centres on So Hands On for chef's-table tasting menus, So Imaginative for theatrical multi-course dinners, and the iconic open-air Cinema Paradiso, where films screen on a mid-lagoon barge.

Spa & Wellness

Soneva Soul, the brand's wellness platform, has a dedicated facility on Jani including a treetop spa and an observatory tower for resident-astronomer-led stargazing.

Logistics

Transfer is a 40-minute Trans Maldivian Airways seaplane from Velana International Airport. The resort sits inside a private 5.6km lagoon in Noonu Atoll.
