COMO Cocoa Island

An intimate, wellness-led resort on Makunufushi in South Malé Atoll. 33 dhoni-shaped overwater suites along a curving boardwalk, a COMO Shambhala spa, and one of the shortest transfers from Velana.

The MT Verdict

Dhoni-shaped overwater suites along a single sandbar. Tiny by Maldivian standards, which is the point — wellness-led, Asian-pace, refreshingly understated.

The Suites

COMO Cocoa Island has 33 overwater suites in a curving chain off the main island, each shaped like a traditional Maldivian dhoni fishing boat — a signature design first delivered when COMO took over the property and refreshed in the 2019–2021 Lekker Architects renovation. Suites range from one-bedroom Dhoni Suites to two-bedroom Villas.

Dining

The single restaurant is Ufaa, a relaxed all-day venue with COMO's signature health-led Asian and Mediterranean menus. Private dining on the sandbank is the standard alternative.

Spa & Wellness

COMO Shambhala — the brand's wellness platform — runs the on-island spa with the group's signature massage, Pilates and Ayurvedic-influenced programmes. Guest stays are often built around multi-night Shambhala retreats.

Logistics

Transfer is a 40-minute speedboat from Velana International Airport — among the shortest of any luxury Maldives resort. The island, locally Makunufushi, sits in South Malé Atoll.
