Dubai is the highest-frequency direct corridor into the Maldives. Emirates operates around three rotations a day on Boeing 777 equipment; flydubai picks up the budget end with narrowbody flights. Scheduled flight time runs roughly 4 hours 5 minutes to 4 hours 25 minutes.
Why this route works
Frequency. There are essentially no awkward connection times — pick a flight, the schedule fits. Emirates' onward network through DXB is the deepest in the region, so for travellers connecting from the Americas, Africa, or much of East Asia, routing through Dubai usually beats alternatives on total elapsed time.
What to know
The Emirates route operates with the 777, not the A380 — don't expect upper-deck premium products on this leg. flydubai uses 737s; cabin is comfortable for the four-hour run but standard short-haul fittings. If you're connecting via DXB from a long-haul, give yourself at least 90 minutes between flights and don't book Terminal 2 (flydubai) and Terminal 3 (Emirates) on a tight connection — they require a bus transfer.
