China Eastern is scaling up its direct service between Shanghai and the Maldives for the peak of the northern summer.

Through July 2026, the carrier will fly the Shanghai Pudong–Malé route daily — up from three times a week — adding a meaningful chunk of widebody capacity on one of the Maldives' busiest long-haul links.

What's Changing

From 1 July to 31 July 2026, China Eastern increases the route from three to seven flights a week, operating the larger Airbus A330-300. That lifts Shanghai–Malé to a daily service for the full month.

The Schedule

For July, China Eastern's daily rotation is timed for a midday departure from Shanghai and an evening return from Malé:

  • MU235: Shanghai Pudong 12:50 → Malé 17:50
  • MU236: Malé 19:40 → Shanghai Pudong 06:00 (next day)

Times are local and, as with any seasonal schedule, can shift — confirm the latest with China Eastern when booking.

For July, the Maldives' single biggest source market gets a daily widebody link straight to Malé.
