We have 10 days in the Maldives. Is it realistic to split the stay between two resorts, maybe one for diving and one for relaxation? Or do the transfer costs and logistics make it not worth it?

Splitting between two resorts is absolutely doable and increasingly common. The key is minimising dead transfer days — choose two resorts in the same atoll or both served by the same seaplane route. Budget $300–600 per person for the extra inter-resort transfer. A popular combo: a diving-focused resort in South Ari Atoll (whale sharks) for 4 nights + a luxury relaxation resort in North Malé for 5 nights. Book the active resort first so you end the trip winding down. Avoid splitting shorter trips (under 7 nights) — you'll spend too much time in transit.
