Every year resorts advertise huge Black Friday discounts. Are these genuine savings or do they just inflate the rack rate and then discount it?
1 Answer
Mixed. Some are genuine, some are marketing theatre. Here's how to tell the difference: (1) Compare the 'sale' rate against the resort's direct booking rate right now — not the rack rate on their website. Use a site like a price comparison tool to check actual rates. (2) The best Black Friday deals are the ones that add value rather than discount: free night stays (book 5 pay 4), complimentary half-board upgrades, included transfers, or spa credits. These are harder to fake. (3) Resorts trying to fill low-season dates (May-July) often offer genuinely steep discounts — 40-50% off. Peak season 'discounts' of 10-15% are usually just the normal advance purchase rate repackaged. (4) Book directly with the resort — OTA 'deals' often exclude the best perks. Our advice: sign up for resort newsletters in October. The real deals go to email subscribers before they hit social media.
