Nasandhura Announces 118 Apartments in New Malé Development

MT Editors·6 December 2016·3 min read

Nasandhura has made an announcement to sell apartments in their new hotel. Nasandhura, the oldest and most iconic hotelier in Male,

Nasandhura, one of the most recognisable hospitality names in Malé, announced plans to sell residential apartments as part of its new hotel and mixed-use development currently under construction in the capital city of the Maldives.

Construction on the project began the previous year and has been progressing steadily. As the site of one of the oldest tourist hotels in Malé, Nasandhura secured the land — along with an adjacent plot — under a 50-year lease. The new development plans include a 20-storey building that will combine a tourist hotel with residential apartment units designed for sale.

According to information released through the project’s website, the building is expected to become the tallest residential structure in Malé City once completed.

Apartment Development Plans

The development includes 118 residential apartments across 13 different categories. These range from two-bedroom to four-bedroom units, along with a penthouse located on the top floor of the building.

The apartments are designed to be relatively spacious compared with many residential properties currently available in Malé. Some of the units are planned as two-storey residences, with certain apartments reaching sizes of up to 3,000 square feet.

The penthouse unit, located at the highest level of the building, is being developed as the most exclusive residence in the project, featuring premium furnishings and high-end interior design.

Residents will also have access to several facilities located within the hotel portion of the building. These include a rooftop swimming pool, gym, salon, and direct access to a shopping mall located within the development.

Project Investment and Partnerships

The project is being developed and funded by NPH Investment.

According to reports from Sri Lankan media, the development also includes plans for a 150-room four-star hotel, which is being developed in partnership with Browns Hotels and Resorts of Sri Lanka.

Browns Hotels and Resorts reportedly committed USD 9.5 million toward the project as part of its expansion into the international leisure sector. The company has also signed agreements with Alpa Kinam Holdings in connection with the development.

At the time of the announcement, the Nasandhura redevelopment represented one of the most significant mixed-use hospitality and residential projects planned for Malé City.
